A Note From the Author

If I look back over my adult life, I would have to say I have spent most of my free time aspiring to be a writer. Yes, aspiring, even though most of my friends and family would disagree with that description given my undeniable commitment and passion for writing. Some would even say if I just looked at my accomplishments, over the past thirty-five years, that there’s been enough success to merit some other adjective than aspirant. There is no doubt that I’m proud that some very talented musicians have chosen to record my songs over the years, that my play The Last Ride was brought to life in a 2008 production, and in 2011, with the publication of my first novel Just Beyond The Edge, I feel like all my hard work and dedication to writing has been a journey well worth taking.

I can honestly say that all these undertakings are just part of the process of trying to improve my craft of writing. Having just completed my second novel, Times of Clouds and Sun, and completed my first film script A Settling of Scores and TV Limited Series, No Retreat, I am feeling a stronger sense that someday I might be comfortable referring to myself as a writer. Regardless of the what the future holds, I hope I’ll never lose the yearning to search for a better written sentence, or the pure joy of finding a single word to describe a complex emotion, or writing a line of prose that causes the reader to stop mid-paragraph in appreciation of the written word. So, in that sense, I will always be an aspiring writer, which is fine by me.
