A Note From the Author

If I look back over my adult life, I would have to say I have spent most of my free time aspiring to be a writer. Yes, aspiring, even though most of my friends and family would disagree with that description given my undeniable commitment and passion for writing. Some would even say if I just looked at my accomplishments, over the past thirty-five years, that there’s been enough success to merit some other adjective than aspirant. There is no doubt that I’m proud that some very talented musicians have chosen to record my songs over the years, that my play The Last Ride was brought to life by dedicated actors in a 2008 production, and with the publication of my novel Just Beyond The Edge, 2011, and my poetry collection Reckoning of the Heart, 2018, I am feeling a stronger sense that someday I’ll feel comfortable referring to myself as a writer.

Having just completed my second novel, Times of Clouds and Sun, completed several film scripts, and a short story collection, I know the challenges of calling yourself a writer will never cease. Regardless of title, I hope I never lose the yearning for a better written sentence or an emotional lyric to a song. So, in that sense, I will always be an aspiring writer, which is fine be me.
